Music and Care Meeting

The pictures today were taken while we were attending a music performance from the "Sterling Silver Saints" from Gladewater Texas. They sang a variety of gospel, bluegrass, and patriotic songs. Daddy had a good time - Music and slushy - What more could anyone ask for?
The meeting with all daddy's care givers was yesterday and it went well.
A summary of the meeting:
*The sores are healed - The open sore closed quickly and no infection resulted - thank goodness. He will continue to be put to bed after lunch every day.
*He is moving well in the chair and even going for short walks with the walker - when he feels like it. The RN supervisor has put in a order for the CNA supervisor on the 4th wing to walk him every day because she has training in restorative therapy. This is what Ethelyn and I have been wanting for so long ---- God is so good. I will continue to work with him as well.
*He is eating very well - he has gained 10 pounds since March 4th. Hopefully he will get some exercise to work off some of the calories he is taking in. They really do feed them all day, and the meals are pretty large. He is not feeding himself as much as he was, but he does take the initiative at times.
*His meds have been adjusted and he is more alert in the day, not as agitated, and he is sleeping well at night.

I am also working on getting together a support group through the Alzheimer's Association that will meet at the home for the families. Since daddy has been in, several in the unit have passed away. Ethelyn and I got to know one family and it was hard. Another patient has been given a short time from the doctors. It is feeling more and more like losing a member of your own family - when one family hurts, we all hurt. Such a sad disease, this long good-bye. But in all things God has a purpose. I know God has not forgotten daddy, his life situation has taught me so much about life, about myself, and about my God. Even though he can not communicate through words, he is still teaching me something everyday.
